Great balance bike and transition to pedals
This has been a great purchase. My 3 (almost 4) year old was ready for a pedal bike, but was too big for a 12 inch and seemed too small for a 16 inch even though we went to several bike places that told us that was the right fit. She is on the smaller side (32 lbs, 39 inches), so all the 16 inch bikes we tried just seemed too heavy. This bike is perfect and extremely light weight which I liked. We kept it as a balance bike for a couple of weeks just to have her get the hang of it. We switched it over to a pedal bike and it took her maybe 30 or so minutes and she was pedaling, with no help from us and her just figuring it out. I think a major part of the success was the ability for her to still give herself a running start same as if she was on a balance bike. The back pedal brakes has been harder for her to understand, but seeing as she will move on to hand brakes, I am not soo concerned about this. The one thing that did make it slightly hard is the pedals themselves are about half the size of a regular pedal. That was one of her 1st comments was that they were too small for her to be able to put her foot on it. She has figured that out as well, and I imagine they are like that so kiddos still can balance if they need to, so they won't get in the way. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and think this is really a great transition bike before they get to the much heavier 16 inch bikes that are found at most bike stores.

Worth its weight in gold
My daughter (6 now) has had an obscenely heavy LL Bean bike with training wheels since she was 4. She hated it; never figured out how to bike with that despite ample opportunity. Training wheels more often than not get in the way, and do not help AT ALL. With this bike, it took all of 15 minutes for her to figure out balancing, and another 2 rides after (a total of maybe 1 hour in all) to figure out biking. What a departure from the horrid tank that she had from LL Bean!! This is the way to learn bicycle riding. balance first, then add the pedals, and off she went! Thank you Strider!! You have made me a proud parent!

I didn’t feel he was quite ready for a pedal bike but researched to see what our options were. Found this newly released Strider 14x and figured why not stay with Strider, they are proven knowledgeable and trustworthy. It turned out to be the perfect transition. We went straight to pedals and on just the second time of trying it out he was on his own. Starting, stopping & turning all on his own. This video is of that moment. For us it works perfectly. Only negative I could think of is the weight of the bike is pretty heavy compared to the previous one being only 6.7lbs. My son doesn’t seem to have a problem with the weight while riding it, so for us it’s not a problem. It could however be a problem for smaller riders or maybe if they fell. Anyways we love it! Perfect for the transition to big bikes.
I bought my son a Specialized pedal bike after he had clearly mastered his first Strider, but he refused to pedal it! Just no confidence. After a year of failure, I bought him this 14" strider and left the pedals off. The second day he was begging me for the pedals, so that weekend I installed them, very skeptical that he would attempt to pedal. Boy was I wrong, he took off like a rocket before I could even get out my camera! The next day he climbed onto his bigger 16" Specialized and could ride that one too! He just needed a lighter bike with slimmer pedals so he could get over that transition from a balance bike. The Specialized was too heavy and intimidating. Overall he still likes this Strider better than the Specialized, and loves riding it daily. I wish I had bought this instead of the bigger bike, but I'll save it for when he grows out of this. Strider is amazing, I've been recommending these bikes to everyone. My 2 year old is now happily enjoying the smaller Strider, so we are a Strider family!

Best beginner bike ever!
Wow. My 3 yr old girl wants her pedals on after having this a month! Her twin brother isn't quite ready, but he loves his "big" bike and does well too. Yes, the colors aren't as abundant as the 12". So we took our twins to custom picked their colors at the store. I think they like the bike even more since they picked their exact favorite colors. My favorite thing about this bike compared to others is that they don't have to climb up to the seat.

Highly recommend strider balance bikes!!
Got this for my 5 year old who was struggling on her bike with training wheels... took her to the bmx park and she mastered the balancing part in a day.. after just a couple weeks we put the pedals on and she is riding like a champ. Easy to take the pedals off so she can race her strider with the other balance bikes. Wish it came in pink, I had to spray paint hers pink.

My 4 year old is riding a two wheeler!
Well built, stable and just a little bigger for my 4 1/2 year old. He was well versed on the smaller orange Strider and could go almost 6 miles. This was much better for stability but a little different for turning since the bars are wider. The best part is after the first day we put the petals on he he is now riding a two wheel bike at 4 years old! There is still some learning to do but he is super excited to bike around! He is about 42" tall and this will last at least until he is 6-7 years old. There is enough room to grow into it. Worth every penny!

My Grandson is very tall for his age. He's 4' at 4 1/2 years old. He loves his new Strider bike, Especially since, after one week, he asked to have the pedals put on. His Dad put them on and with in 15 minutes he was riding using the pedals!!!!! How about that??? Love it.

This is our second strider bike purchase. We bought a smaller one for our 2 yr old grandson. He was not impressed with it. It was harder to ride than the trike. He will occasionally get on it. But his sister 5 loved it. She could not ride a regular bike. And was frustrated. Just one camping weekend and she loved it. Downside the smaller one was way to short for her. So I bought her this bigger one, it is perfect for her. She can ride with her feet up longer and has more control. I think by summer she will be able to transition to the pedals. We chose to go with a neutral color for this one . She loves pink but we picked a pretty blue so it could be passed down to brother and cousins. Strider quality is amazing. The bike is light enough that the kids can pick them up. Great idea adding a pedal kit. You made thes Grandparents very happy

Great balance bike and transition to pedals
This has been a great purchase. My 3 (almost 4) year old was ready for a pedal bike, but was too big for a 12 inch and seemed too small for a 16 inch even though we went to several bike places that told us that was the right fit. Install Flash Player Wow, this bike is amazing. My daughter started on the Strider 12 Sport only a month ago, but mastered it quickly and was begging for pedals. I was hesitant because I thought she surely needed more practice. So I thought this would be a good investment. If the pedals didn't work out, she could just get use to the frame and size of the 14x as a balance bike first. Well, within 10 minutes she had this bike figured out and was cruising the neighborhood with the pedals. It is well-designed and intuitive for kids who have been using balance bikes. Can't recommend this enough! Here she is riding at 3 years, 2 months
